On November 2, I took part in an exciting event, organised by Sabina Liebisch of the “event extraordinaire” planners http://www.creative-office.org
You can read more about this event here: https://www.facebook.com/events/218162014974065The MAN FOR A DAY film was screened as part of it, after which I performed my banana dance https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B4cgl0JQbEhFdUNsNXR6aE0zNUU/edit?usp=drive_web
This was followed by a Q and A from the very inquisitive and gender-enquiried audience. Katarina Peters, the Berlin-based filmmaker of MAN FOR A DAY, and myself were sitting on stage with Sabine as moderator. There followed a stimulating debate with questions from all genders. At the end, Sabine, in cow-girl hat, sang “Stand by your man” which in that context took on an entirely different meaning from the original intention of the song. After a pause, the evening continued with further performances and dj and dancing.
What was particularly wunderbra for Katarina and myself was that it was exactly five years since the MAN FOR A DAY film was shot in that same studio in Ballhaus Rixdorf! Quite serendipitous! And there was no way that Sabina could have known. There were some members of the MAN FOR A DAY cast in attendance on Saturday and we all felt it was a propitious celebration. Thanks Sabina, and the crew of Creative Office for a fabulous anniversary!
